Between April 19 and April 29, 2018, Chelyabinsk Region will host the most awaited sports event,
the 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey Under-18 World Championship. The event will be the 20th junior tournament organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). The competitions
will be held in two cities, Chelyabinsk
and Magnitogorsk. South Ural will be welcoming
the world's top 10 junior teams: nine squads that have kept their berth in the Top Division based
on the 2017 WJC-18 results (USA, Finland, Russia, Sweden, Canada, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Switzerland, and Belarus) and Team France that
was promoted from Division I.
In Round Robin, the teams will be divided into
two groups, with every squad playing four games. Top eight teams advance to playoff quarterfinals.
In their turn, the teams placed last in the groups
will play each other in a best-of-three series to stay in the Top Division.
